Link levels

Best link first. Your identity, contacts and messages stay the same on all of them.

  1. Internet. Everything works: full video, files, the lot.
  2. Wi-Fi HaLow. Nearby, about a kilometre, at megabits per second. Good for low-resolution video and voice.
  3. LoRa. Long range, a few kilobits per second. Text and clear voice. No files or images.
  4. Analog. Walkie-talkie radio, the last resort.

What goes first

When a link is slow, traffic takes turns in this order:

  1. SOS
  2. Voice
  3. Text
  4. Everything else

Messages wait safely and arrive when a path opens, and big items wait for a faster link. You always see whether something was delivered.

How far along

The link choosing and the ordering work in the lab, on a simulator that behaves like a slow radio link. Real LoRa tests come next, once test boards arrive and only with the radio rules checked. HaLow and analog are not in any device yet. Radio rules differ by country, and no radio product will be sold before it has passed the testing the law asks for.
