Good company

FrameBuff learned from some excellent tools, and it runs happily beside all of them. It does most of what they do, on machines you own, with nothing to rent. Here is an honest side-by-side.

Using them together

Keep what you love

Nextcloud

Polished file sharing, office documents and a big app store.

If you live in Nextcloud's apps, keep them. FrameBuff adds what a single server can't: every machine you own working as one, a drive encrypted on every disk, and a GPU you can lend.

Syncthing

Rock-solid peer-to-peer folder sync.

FrameBuff has sync of its own, and puts an encrypted drive, shared GPUs, family and apps on top of it. If Syncthing already keeps your folders in line, it can keep doing that.

Tailscale

Effortless private networking between devices.

FrameBuff connects its own machines without signing up anywhere, then does something with them once they're connected. It works fine on a network Tailscale already set up.

Home Assistant

Smart-home automation with thousands of integrations.

Home Assistant runs your house. FrameBuff runs your computers and your data. They sit well side by side, even on the same machine.

Google Drive and iCloud

Zero setup, and it works on every device.

Nothing beats them for convenience. FrameBuff asks for a little setup in return for storage that is yours: no monthly fee, no cap beyond your own disks, and nobody else holding the keys.
